Che cosè Rodio?

What is Rhodium?

Often, when asked what material an item is made of, the answer is Rhodium. Usually, it refers to rhodium-plated jewelry (because if it were pure Rhodium, it would cost more than gold) with a base of copper, brass, nickel, or other materials coated (through electroplating) with Rhodium.

Rhodium is a precious metal that does not oxidize and is more valuable than gold. Its color is a very shiny silver.

Once the rhodium plating wears off, the underlying base metal is exposed, and the object turns black and loses its shine permanently.
