It was formed during the eruptions of volcanoes, melted and expelled in small lapilli, once solidified it takes on an almost spherical shape and is called "Apache's Tear", as the native Americans believed that the earth cried its tears in this way tears for the death of Indian warriors.

Apache's tear combines the qualities of the stone with those of the sphere which uniformly radiates its energy emanating from all points of its surface; it preserves the memory of the enormous energy which, during the volcanic explosion, meant that, from the subsoil in which it lay, it was suddenly expelled onto the earth's surface.
