in Sanskrit it is said dhvaja, in Tibetan it is said rgyal-mtshan
represents the victory of Buddhist teachings,
it is the symbol of the victory of knowledge over ignorance and fear,
finally it represents the victory of Dharma over all obstacles and the achievement of happiness

It is usually a cylinder of fabric with three or more stripes of silk adorned with ribbons of five colors. It is used as decoration and we can find it inside temples and monasteries, suspended from the ceiling, as an ornament of the roofs on the poles used for prayers.
